Re: v7.13 [stable] is released!

I tested this version on my CCR 1016 where MPLS and VPLS {LDP} is running. After 3 to 5 minutes router reboots and it keeps repating over and over. On version 7.12.1 everything is ok. Has anyone same experience? No error in log. I have a similar problem, on devices using MPLS/VPLS I see kernel pani...

Re: v7 and BFD, any ETA?

Pls excuse my ignorance (I'm just curious and want to learn), but why was BFD such a strongly demanded feature? From what I'm researching, it's a really simple module that allows more granular/realtime implementation of a remote host is-alive/ping check? I guess this could be essential for HA purpo...

Re: v7 and BFD, any ETA?

Everyone here knows how BFD is important to you all. Development has many stages. Fortunately now BFD is in active internal testing stage, so - very close. When it was "in development" previously, it was in research / theory phase. In retrospect, it was probably a bad idea to release v7 w...

Re: v7 and BFD, any ETA?

frankly, we don't know who is directing their priorities. Could be a big customer they are trying to appease. Rather than shit on them for not having the same priorities as us, we just need to tell them how important and widesprad the need is. ...a big customer that does not need a reliable and mor...

Re: v7 and BFD, any ETA?

i hope mikrotik is doing some serious testing for these 1.5+ years now and we get a real good (new?) solution/implementation on BFD in v7 which will work solid again. lest we not forget - BFD is not a "just click this button to activate, set'n'forget" protocol! a lot is dependant atop of ...

Re: v7.8 [stable] is released!

ospf v3 still not working in 7.8 https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=192529 Same, I am not seeing proper LSA exchanges or routes being installed between neighbors. This is a regression from v7.7 and needs to be treated as a critical bug. [edit: this seems to be a problem when interoperating ...

Re: v7.8beta [testing] is released!

also, we need static VPLS name , when we running them over BGP That is not necessarily the right thing, BGP signalled VPLS tunnels are created dynamically and there may be a lot of them in any given bridge. It is not clear to me how static names would even work in that case. What would really help ...

Re: v7.8beta [testing] is released!

For those wondering where MikroTik is going with all of this, especially CCR2000 and beyond... From Cisco: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-9300-series-switches/white-paper-c11-742415.html (emphasis mine) You know what else also those Cisco/etc. routers can do? OS...

Re: BGP with BFD

Currently we are working on BFD to bring it to you as soon as possible. What is taking so long? It has been almost a year since you said this, no movement yet, and I am not seeing any reason to believe that "working on BFD" means more than "it was mentioned during a meeting once back...

Re: v7.8beta [testing] is released!

Bugs and things like BFD have no "enabled=yes" switch in RouterOS configuration files, sorry. It is easy to add some basic things, but there are complex things that need to be made from 0. At this point the lack of BFD support is inexcusable. There is clear demand from users, it was previ...

Re: MikroTik Devices Controller

I would urge you to follow standards instead of creating your own proprietary protocols/APIs/formats wherever possible, or to at least allow some minimal compatibility with a standard. If that is not possible or desirable, then my biggest request would be to document your protocols/APIs so that we c...

+1

Stop letting the IPv6 stack languish and start treating IPv6 as a priority.

Re: v7.1 is released!

Let's say, for the sake of argument, that this really should clear the bar for "stable release" despite missing various basic features, the features that are implemented are full of bugs. I keep seeing inexplicable problems with OSPFv3 -- LSAs not being sent even after adjacencies are esta...

Re: v7.1 [testing] is released!

I can confirm that having extra packages installed blocks the upgrade path (CCR1009). I am noticing some problems with OSPFv3 when link-local addresses are used; routes seem to not be properly installed even though the correct LSAs are exchanged, but when I assign prefixes to the links things become...

Re: v7.1rc7 [development] is released!

Is there any plan or timeline for implementing BFD for OSPF in v7? I cannot upgrade until it is implemented or a reasonable alternative is available (for various reasons iBGP does not cut it, and I cannot use proprietary protocols), and to be honest I am shocked that a release candidate is missing s...
