PPPOE connection going stale

Sun Jul 17, 2005 6:35 am

I am using mikrotik as access concentrator for pppoe and the trouble I have is if the wireless signal has any packet loss the connection goes stale and neither the client or router realises it so the connection doesn't drop. The router shows the connection and the client is still connected but no traffic will flow. If the client disconnects and connects back it's fine again until there is packet loss again. (minimal loss...less than 2%). Is there anything that can be done to help this situation?

Mikrotik just corrected a nearly identical problem(possibly the exact problem you are having) in RouterOS version 2.9rc7. Have you tried this?

that didn't do it (upgrade to the latest 2.8) The radio can have 0 packet loss but the pppoe connection still has consistently 7% packet loss. Any ideas?

Should I try to move on to 2.9?

Thanks!!

How is the loss with large sized packets at different intervals inside and outside pppoe tunnel?
