CHR Hosted in Azure?

Sat Feb 17, 2024 4:51 pm

Has anyone ever successfully gotten a CHR instance running reliably in MS Azure?

I've got a use case where it would be helpful to have, but a quick cursory search didn't show anything helpful.

AFAIK Azure doesn't provide empty VM which you can launch from ISO for further installation.
It's Windows or Linux ( or blob or SQL... but that's not relevant here).
So curious to know too...

I am using CHR in Azure without problems! (S2S, P2S - VPN and Firewall)

B1LS or B1S VM is used for Mikrotik V7. It is very easy to install.

It's been a long time since then, so don't be surprised to see that the portal has changed completely!

No problems running V7 on Azure. I recommend using Bicep to streamline your CHR installations for easier deployment on Azure.

Thanks, though I only need to spin up 1 CHR instance for this situation so automating deployment isn't a benefit here. Any help with a tested & reliable way to deploy v7 CHR into azure, or is viewtopic.php?t=153602 still accurate?

You can create CHR in Azure according that post. The Azure portal has changed a lot but you will find the settings.

One important thing! Do not attach public IP when you create the VM. Using the serial console on Azure portal secure the router and after that you can attach the public IP and expose the CHR to the internet.
